Portlaoise is the most concentrated town we work in
1,325 of the county's 2,239 completions went up around Portlaoise, 59.2% of everything, a higher concentration than any county town on our patch including Kilkenny City. The town grew as a Dublin commuter destination and its housing shows it: estate after estate of late-1990s and 2000s stock, sound PVC cable with an earth on every circuit, and boards that dated faster than the wiring they protect. The routine Portlaoise call is not a rewire. It is a board that needs RCBO-per-circuit protection, surge protection and a way free for a car charger.
Portarlington, Mountmellick and the second tier
491 completions around Graiguecullen and Portarlington and 422 around Borris-in-Ossory and Mountmellick. These towns carry more of the county's older stock than Portlaoise does, including a good share of the 5,808 Laois homes that predate 1961 and the 6,963 from 1961 to 1990.
